FAQ's
When
and where does practice start?
Football
and Youth Cheerleading begin Monday, August 2nd, 6 PM
at the Haverford Reserve. Flag Football and Flag Cheerleading
will begin Monday, August 16th , 6 PM at the
Haverford Reserve. Practices normal run until 8 PM.
How
long does the season run?
This will
vary depending on the team your child participates on.
Football typically will run through October 31st,
unless a team makes playoffs/championship, than the season will
end the 2nd or 3rd weekend in November.
Cheerleading ends October 31st, unless you are
on a Competition Squad. Competition
Squads will run into early December.
When
do they practice?
Nights of
the week to be determined by the Head Coach.

What
is the difference between varsity and junior varsity?
Varsity
teams are teams that compete for a league championship. JV teams
are instructional teams with no undo emphasis on winning.
Is
HYF&C a traveling organization?
Yes, most
of our schedule will be made up of teams in Delaware and Chester
County. Flag
Football and Flag Cheerleading is primarily Intramural, with
only 1 team traveling for an Away game.
What
does my football player need to buy to be outfitted properly for
1st day of practice?
We will
provide your child with helmet, shoulder pads, pants, practice
jersey mouthguard and chin strap. You will need to provide
cleats, socks, athletic supporter, and girdle with pads. Flag
players need athletic supporter and cleats.
What
does my cheerleader need to buy to be outfitted properly for 1st
day of practice?
A
cheerleader needs a t-shirt, cotton shorts, white athletic
sneakers, hair in ponytail.
Before
my child can start practice, do I need a full physical?
A
child is unable to participate in any contact or stunting drills
until a physical form is turned in.
Do
flag football players and cheerleaders get uniforms like the
bigger kids?
Flag
players will receive a reversible jersey and flags.
Cheerleaders will receive cheerleading uniforms.
Does
my cheerleader need to purchase anything else to be outfitted
properly on game day?
Yes.
Bloomers, sox, hairbow and shell.
All of these items are available at our Clothing Shack.
A discount “package price” will be given if all items
are purchased together.
